In the Rune Poem
The water seems endless to him who sets out in an unsteady boat: the waves bend him, and the sea-steed heeds not the bridle.

Reversed (merkstave)
- Confusion
- Illusion
- Emotional Overload
- Distorted Intuition
Murky Waters, Emotion Overflowing. Reversed, Laguz is the tide closing over your head: emotions out of control, decisions made in murky states, intuition mistaken for fear or desire. Do not set sail now — wait for the water to settle and show the bottom.
In a spread
- In the past
- An emotional tide — love, grief, an intuition followed or ignored — steered this story to here. The river has already chosen bends that reason cannot explain.
- In the present
- The waters are active: emotion, intuition and dream carry the truth of the moment. Do not fight the current — read it. Feeling, now, informs more than thinking.
- In the future
- It announces navigation through deep waters: a period ruled by emotion and the unseen. Those who respect the tides will go farther than those who cling to dry maps.
- As advice
- Trust verified intuition: note your dreams, honor forebodings, but sound the depths before diving. The tradition sees in Laguz the water of life — drink from it; do not live beneath it.
