- Vulnerability
- Hidden Danger
- Useless Sacrifice
- Exposure
Guard Down, Vulnerability. Reversed, Algiz shows the shield lowered: you are exposed without knowing it, trusting someone unworthy of it, or sacrificing yourself for those who give nothing back. Reinforce your boundaries and heed the instinct you have been ignoring.
In a spread
- In the past
- A protection acted upon this story — an instinct that warned in time, unexpected help, a limit that saved. You have come this far more guarded than you realize.
- In the present
- The elk lifts its head: sacred alertness, an open link with the above. You are protected — but protection is not immunity: it is a warning working. Listen to it.
- In the future
- It announces guard and shelter: dangers skirted, a circle of protection forming. Keep the communication with the divine open — the shield is made of that link.
- As advice
- Raise the galdr of protection: set explicit limits, remove what drains, invoke what elevates. The tradition makes Algiz the hand raised between worlds — pray, in your own way, and walk alert.
The aett
Algiz belongs to the aett of Heimdall, the keeper of the bridge — the forces of fate and of the trials that come from outside and temper character.
